Frequently Asked Questions

Our 2018 EHMP plans are available for purchase until July 1st, 2018. This allows for all of your plan items to be completed in the calendar year.

Typically, the second visit is scheduled 6 months after the first one. This ensures that your horse will receive his or her influenza/rhino booster on schedule to maximize protection against these two contagious respiratory diseases.
You can schedule your visits when it works best for you and your horse, but most owners prefer to have one visit in the spring and the second in the fall.
EHMP programs are nonrefundable, nontransferable, and included items cannot be omitted for discount or substituted. However, these packages are comprehensive, so we are confident that your needs will be covered.

We’ve included a second, sedated full dental exam as well as a second float (only if needed) for our older patients.
Doing a sedated exam allows us to thoroughly check the health of all their teeth. As horses age, this becomes increasingly important. Not every older horse needs dental corrections done at 6 month intervals, but if yours does, we’ve got that covered for you. The vet will discuss what’s needed upon examination at the visit.

No worries, they can still take advantage of the health plan. There is an added cost for a necessary booster vaccine 3 weeks after the first visit otherwise everything works the same.
That’s not a problem. Health Plan procedures can also be done on the second visit. The vet will discuss everything with you at the first visit.

Our vaccine strategy follows the AAEP guidelines for “Core Vaccines” recommended in our area.

This includes:

  • Flu/Rhino
  • Tetanus
  • West Nile Virus.

We have also added:

  • WEE/EEE encephalitis vaccine
  • Flu/Rhino booster @ 6months

You can certainly decline specific vaccines if you prefer, but we feel this immunization protocol gives you full protection against disease exposure.

Our Gold plan includes a 3rd visit to your horse – entirely focused on their performance soundness!

This is a detailed musculoskeletal hands-on exam, and a motion exam with the use of our computerized Lameness Locator® system. Straight line, lunging, and flexion evaluations are included to give you objective answers on how your horse is moving.
